| About | Founded in 1862, Richmond Cricket Club is one of London's largest and most successful amateur cricket clubs. Founder members of the Shepherd Neame Middlesex County Cricket League, Richmond have five League XIs playing throughout the season on a Saturday. The Club also enters 3 cup competitions (the National, Evening Standard & Middlesex Cup) that take place on Sundays, as well as operating a social side every Sunday.
The 1st and 2nd XI play their home fixtures at the oustanding Old Deer Park facility (see picture), the Sunday social team also play their home fixtures here. The 3rd and 4th XI are lucky to play at Imperial College's Cricket Ground in Teddington, which is one of the most impressive alternative home fixture facilities in the County. The newly formed 5th XI will play their home fixtures at our 3rd home fixture facility in Harlington.
The Club also boasts one of London's largest Colts sections with over 200 youngsters (ranging in age between 6 and 15) participating most weeks. Competitive fixtures are staged for Under 17, Under 15, Under 13, Under 12, Under 11 and Under 10s.
Richmond is a friendly club with a vibrant social scene. On a Saturday evening following matches, the bar at Old Deer Park is usually a hive of social intercourse as the day's events are mulled over and celebrated. On several occasions during the summer, we stage Saturday Socials, when a live band is engaged to entertain us and members are encouraged to bring their friends and partners down to Old Deer Park. Every August, as part of the annual cricket tour, Richmond players descend on the glorious Cotswolds for a week of cricket, golf, and lots of socialising! There are also a number of formal occasions, such as the Annual Dinner, the Summer Ball and the Club Supper. Further information about these events can be found on our website at www.richmondcricketclub.com.
The Club is always keen to attract new members. Winter nets started on Sunday 6th January 2008 at Hampton School, and outdoor nets start the first week of April at Old Deer Park in Richmond – see the website for more details on the new net facilities that are being constructed in time for the start of the 2008 season.
There are a series of friendly and inter-club matches that take place before the league season starts to ensure new members are given every chance to get into a team that matches their ability – first friendlies take place 19/20th April.
Please get in touch via email initially, stating your full contact details, previous playing experience, and what your cricketing strengths are; you can expect a prompt response with further advice. Alternatively, please feel free to come along and introduce yourself at one of the net sessions.
The club is very diverse in terms of age and nationality – everyone is welcome.
