Running vs cycling

I know I'm not the only person who has this problem but probably going to be the only one who moans about it

I have been racking up the km's on the bike over the past couple of months and felt that instead of continually increasing bike k's, I would start to run off the bike instead. I found that even after only a 10 min run my legs were in bits the next few days and just felt soooo dead, even when on the bike. I have now done 3 runs in total, only two off the bike and one by itself, and feel after each run (longest only 20mins) that I have just finished a 60km cycle!

I have also only ever had a couple of runs that felt easy, the rest just feel like bloody hard work!!!

I have a feeling that I am going to get a lot of crossover benefits from the running into the cycling, but feel that there are almost 0 benefits the other way round!

Hey OscarB, I have to agree with you there, running is really hard for me as well.

I have noticed that I can get my heartrate up much higher running which I think must also help my cycling. I have to really push for instance to get my HR above 140 on the bike but even at an easy jog pace my HR goes to about 160???

Running is by far and away the hardest of the two! depending on how much you weigh, your calves have to literally boost that weight into the air a couple of thousand times each. On a bike, the bike supports your weight so no problems there.
